How I work, and why I will not hand you a label

Many people come to therapy wanting a name for what they feel. That is understandable. Naming calms. But a name can also close the door too early.

I work from existential phenomenology. In practice that means something simple: before explaining what you feel, I listen to how you feel it. Before theory, your experience. Diagnoses are like maps, useful for finding your bearings, but nobody crosses a life walking on top of a map. You are not the map. You are the territory.

That is where the phrase that sums up my work comes from: psychology, but it doesn't psychologize. I am not going to take your pain and translate it on the spot into a ready-made formula. I will stay inside it with you, with the patience it takes, until it starts to make sense from the inside out. Not the sense I impose, the sense that was already there.

Three things interest me: who you are when you stop translating yourself for other people, what is authentically yours, and what actually gives meaning to your particular life.

If this resonates with the moment you are living, we can talk. The first step is just a conversation, with no label and no rush.
