Frequently asked questions
Direct answers to what people ask me most. If your question is not here, message me on WhatsApp.
How much does a session cost?
The session fee is 70 euros, paid by card at the moment of booking, on the booking page.
If you would rather pay by bank transfer, message me on WhatsApp before booking and I will send you the details.
How does cancellation work?
Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance are free of charge. Just let me know what came up and we rebook.
With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not show up, the session is charged in full. The slot is held for you alone and I cannot offer it to anyone else at short notice.
How long is a session and how often do we meet?
Individual sessions last 45 minutes, and couples sessions 50. They usually happen once a week, at a fixed time agreed between us. Frequency can be discussed case by case.
Do you work with couples?
Yes. As well as individual therapy, I work with couples by video call, with both of you in the session, in the same room or each from wherever you are. Couples sessions last 50 minutes and the fee is 80 US dollars, for both of you.
You can book the first one directly on the site or, if you would rather talk first, message me on WhatsApp. You can read more about how I work with couples on Who it is for.
Can we work together if we are in different countries?
Yes. Sessions happen by video call wherever you are, and we agree on a time that works across our time zones before we start.
To be transparent about the formal side: I am registered as a psychologist in Brazil under CRP 05/83313 and practise under Brazilian professional regulation. Some countries have their own rules about receiving therapy from a professional registered abroad, so it is worth checking the rules where you live. If you have any doubt, ask me and we can look at it together.
What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor: they can diagnose, prescribe and monitor medication. A psychologist works with psychotherapy, which is the process of speaking and working through experience, and does not prescribe medication.
The two forms of care do not compete. Many people do both at the same time, and when I sense that a psychiatric assessment might help, I say so openly.
How do I know whether therapy is for me?
You do not need to be in crisis or to have a diagnosis. If something in your life is asking for attention, whether concrete suffering or a restlessness you cannot quite name, that is reason enough.
And there is a simple way to find out: the first session. It exists so that you can try it and decide from experience rather than expectation.
Does online therapy really work?
Online psychological practice is formally regulated and follows the same ethical requirements as in-person work, including confidentiality.
In my experience, what sustains therapy is the quality of the encounter and the consistency of the process. A video call carries that well, with the advantage that you can be seen from wherever you are.
Do I need to install any software?
No. We use a simple video platform, such as Google Meet: you receive the link before the session and join with one click, from a computer or a phone.
Does what I say in sessions stay between us?
Yes. Everything you say is protected by the professional confidentiality set out in the code of ethics I am bound by as a registered psychologist.
What is the phenomenological-existential approach?
It is a way of doing therapy that starts from your concrete experience, from the way you actually live things, rather than fitting what you feel into theories or ready-made labels.
The aim is to widen the clarity you have about your own life, so that you can choose more freely what to do with it. I say more about this on the About me page.
